Bury expelled from Football League after takeover bid collapses

Bury have been expelled from the English Football League after failing to secure new ownership.
A proposed takeover from C&N Sporting Risk fell through with just 90 minutes to go, as the firm said it was “unable to proceed” with its takeover of the Lancashire club.
Bury had until 5pm to prove a deal had been done or provide reasons for requiring an extension, otherwise they faced being kicked out of the EFL after 134 years.
They are the first club to be expelled since 1992.
This afternoon, news of three offers gave fans of the League One side fresh hope that a solution to their plight could be forthcoming.
