Lionel Messi handed post-Copa America ban – with further punishment still to follow
Lionel Messi has been handed a one-match ban and fined £1,200 for his red card in the Copa America third place play-off.
But the Barcelona superstar remains in the dock over his off-field declarations labelling CONMEBOL as ‘corrupt’.
Messi was sent off in the meeting with Chile, after a clash with Gary Medel, in which the former Cardiff midfielder appeared to be the aggressor.
Following the encounter, a furious Messi blasted the officiating at this summer’s tournament in Brazil.
The Albiceleste skipper declared: “There is no doubt, the whole thing is set up for Brazil.
