Meghan Markle’s Vogue cover: The meaningful detail on the Duchess of Sussex’s September issue

Following rumours earlier this year that the Duchess of Sussex would be working with British Vogue, her role as guest editor of its September issue has been revealed.

The new bumper issue of Vogue features fifteen inspiring women on the cover, ranging from New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern through to actor and trans activist Laverne Cox. But the sixteenth spot was a conceptual touch.

Among the grid of faces that include Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan and Jane Fonda lies a reflective square, which Meghan’s official Instagram account @sussexroyal revealed was a mirror.

The caption to the cover revealed, “The sixteenth space on the cover, a mirror, was included so that when you hold the issue in your hands, you see yourself as part of this collective.”

Readers will find themselves in good company, as activists, leaders and more women feature with the words “Forces for Change”.
