Nigeria beat Tunisia to win AFCON third place

The Super Eagles of Nigeria beat Carthage Eagles of Tunisia 1-0 on Wednesday night in Cairo to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) bronze medal.

Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo scored the fastest goal in this year tournament to hand Gernot Rhor’s side victory against a well organised Tunisian side at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo on Wednesday night.

With a total of five goals, the Nigerian forward also tops the leading goal scorers’ chart in the tournament.

The game did not go as planned for the china based striker as he limped off to what appeared to be a hamstring injury just before the half time whistle.

Algeria and Senegal will battle for the main trophy on Friday at the Cairo International Stadium.
