Peaky Blinders investigated over ‘breaking Covid rules’ as filming is paused

The hit British crime drama Peaky Blinders is currently under investigation after claims the BBC series has broken Covid-19 safety rules.

The producers of the Birmingham-based gangster show have been accused of breaching rules and putting the crew at risk after one particular staff member allegedly recorded a positive coronavirus test and continued working on set.

Filming on the award-winning show, which is set after the First World War, was paused earlier this week. The major show is now on its hugely anticipated sixth and final series.

It comes soon after the tragic passing of Peaky Blinders star Helen McCrory at age 52, following her battle with cancer. The multi-award-winning actress played matriarch Aunt Polly in the show.

A spokesman for the show has told the Guardian, saying at the time it was because of a “false positive test for a member of the crew”.

But the crew claim that filming did in fact carry on for a few hours after the test result until another staff member discovered it and subsequently stopped filming.

The positive-testing crew member then had another Covid test which came back negative and shooting then resumed.

However, some members of the team are angry and are questioning why shooting was not shut down immediately following the initial test result.

One individual alleged that some members are not happy to press on with filming just yet and some of those working on set with him did not know that he had tested positive.
