It burned hot the first time
We waited to be scorched
We heard the crackling
But strangely we were unscathed
It got brighter and brighter
It took over everything
We waited to be blown to smithereens
Yet it stayed comfortable
So we began to doubt our safety
Why wouldn’t it incinerate us?
Is it waiting till our guards are down ?
We got scared
And we ran from it
We ran! Boy, did we run!
Oh supernova!
Oh supernova!
That cannot be contained
Yet will not be extinguished
With the gravitational force of a black hole
It pulled us back to its center
Here we go again
Dancing, like moths to a flame
Only it’s much more than just a flame
It’s an all consuming inferno
Burning up all our doubts in its wake
So we let it’s light guide us
We embraced the flames
And let them engulf us
In this brilliant welcoming hug
A billion stars exploding around us like confetti
So comforting it feels like home
Look! We live in the sun!
We love in the light!
And nobody’s on the run!
Oh supernova! Oh supernova!
