Tinubu’s Kiss-and-Tell Political Romance

“If not for me that stood behind Buhari he wouldn’t have become President, he tried the first time he failed. The second time, he failed. The third, he failed”.

“He even wept on national TV and vowed never to contest again, but I went to meet him in Kaduna and told him he would run again, I will stand by you and you will win, but you must not joke with Yoruba”.

Is it just me that sees everything wrong in this statements from a seasoned and elderly Statesman, Elderly man and Politician?

Is that a campaign strategy?
Is that a score card?

It’s cringe worthy that Mr President, a man who failed 3 times as recounted by BAT was packaged and rebranded and sold to Nigerians by BAT and then proceeded to became a monumental failure…failure magnified.
If failure was a person.
How do you even have bragging rights over a disaster, even though, even though?

To kiss and tell is to tell, divulge, reveal, expose details of private matters someone who gives the back story on a matter.
A kiss and tell betrays a confidence.
Tells other people’s secrets.
Discloses private information. Its a person who boasts unnecessarily. A show off.
They tell tales out of school.
They toot their own horns and blow their own trumpets.

My people will say “O n siregun”
“Iregun” means laying emphasis or counting on good deeds done for another.

A sleek person will recount deeds done for another because he wants and expects a compensation, a reward, a favour or a pay back.

There are strings attached to the deed done.
Its when a person feels entitled to something because he has done something.
Its a subtle means of bullying someone into submitting to demands and acceding to unrealistic expectations.

Its blackmail…armtwisting someone to do something by recounting the past good deeds.

Or if you like the Yorubas will say “O se ore tan, o tun looso ti”- – a person who recounts for the world to hear things done with another or for another and then stoops and hovers around unmovable to see the best benefit he can physically or emotionally derive from the situation.

An omoluabi, a person with morality is not expected to directly or indirectly seek reward for a good deed to another person in a manner embarrassing to the person.

It shows desperation.
It reeks frustration.
Its an entitlement mentality.

A certain religion has even said when you do good deeds, and then get a microphone and start recounting what you have done…you have got your payment back in full by the applause and ovation and accolades.

No person likes a person who kisses and tells.
There’s nothing cool about kissing and telling or recounting deeds done with or for another.

It stems from a lack of confidence in one self.
A confident man doesn’t brag only a desperate and frustrated man boasts.

Asiwaju is getting rattled, tensioned and showing it.

I think BAT shot himself in the foot with going public.
Let’s see how the ‘bat’ swings with Mr President.
