A young girl was raped by a stranger after she left a party believing her mother was waiting outside to pick her up, say police.
The girl – described as a young teenager – was attacked by an “unknown male” in Warlingham, Surrey, at around 11.30pm on Saturday.
She thought her mother was outside the party when she left, but that was not the case, said a spokesperson for Surrey Police.
After the attack the girl was taken home by two passers-by – a man and a woman – and she is now being supported by specialist police officers after being through a “horrendous ordeal”.
Police had set up a cordon around a field on Sunday and Monday as crime scene officers gathered evidence, SurreyLive reports.
